Additional information for the applicant


Application for bachelor study programme:

The applicant could apply easily and quickly via electronic application form, which applicant does not need to fill out by hand. The applicant can fill out the application form from the comfort of home and directly send it to our study department. The applicant does not need to fill out all subjects and results obtained during secondary school. The applicant does not need the confirmation of medical status.

The written application is submitted on the prescribed form for the first stage of university study (A3 format). In order to speed up communication if the application is incomplete, we ask the applicants for a correct and valid e-mail address on the application form.

Study fees:

Study fees are based on the TNUAD guideline called Determination of Tuition and Fees associated with the study at the TNUAD valid in the current academic year.


General conditions and information:

· The applicant can send only one application form to the Political science study programme and mark one form of study (daily or external).

· The decision on admission / non-admission to the study will be sent to the applicant in written form no later than 30 days after the validation of application (verification of fulfilment of all admission conditions).

• Applicant who has received a decision of acceptance is required to enrol according to the instructions he/she receives in written form together with the decision of admission to study.

• According to Act no. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions, as amended, Section 59 (3), faculties have the right to require from the received applicants information on whether they want to enrol for study. If the applicant fails to provide the information in due time, he/she will be denied the right to enrol in the study.


Graduate profile:

The graduate of Political Studies will have a sufficient theoretical basis of knowledge from the scientific politology disciplines, Comparative Political Science, Political Sociology, History of Political Theories, and Current Trends in Political Thinking. He/she will be able to orientate in the issues of organization and management of society, the functioning of regions within society and cross-border cooperation. At the same time, he/she acquires language skills, communication and presentation skills to enter and apply professionally in several areas of society (public administration, civic associations, mass media, international organizations). He/she will be ready to independently, creatively and efficiently address current issues of company development, present alternatives, and effectively communicate with partners both in the domestic and foreign policy. Another option is professional work in the field of political counselling, scientific research, political life, multinational companies and journalism. He/she will have adequate foreign language skills for his /her professional activity.


Practical Application

The important sphere of practical application for graduates of the Political Science Department is the structure of state and public administration (state and local institutions of the national, regional and local level) as well as third sector entities, civic associations, foundations, specialists in public opinion research and market research and multinational corporations.

Information for applicants from abroad


1. The same conditions apply to applicants from the Czech Republic as for applicants from the Slovak Republic.


2. For applicants with whom the Slovak Republic has a contract on the mutual recognition of equivalence of educational documents or the state of the European Higher Education Area.


Under Act § 39 no. 422/2015 Coll. on the recognition of educational documents and on the recognition of professional qualifications and on the amendment and supplementation of certain laws (hereinafter referred to as "the Act"), the evidence of education under Section 33, part 1 of the Act and § 36 par. 1 and 2 of the Act issued by a recognized educational institution of a Member State or a third State with which an international agreement on the mutual recognition of equivalence of educational documents has been concluded (the Czech Republic, Federal Republic of Germany, Hungary, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Ukraine) the Slovak Republic is bound to be recognized as equivalent automatically for the purposes of continuing education.

If it is a certificate of education pursuant to § 33 par. 1 of the Act issued by the recognized European Higher Education Institutions (Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, The   Holy See, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Macedonia, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom and Belarus) for the purposes of continuing education, the level of education is recognized as equivalent automatically.


The applicant shall submit a written application for recognition of the education document, which must include:


·         name and surname of the applicant;

·         address of permanent residence or similar residence of the applicant;

·         the subject of the request;

·         the name and address of the recognized educational institution which issued the education document;

·         year of completion of the applicant's study;

·         signature of the applicant.


The attachments are mostly:


·         a copy of the identity document;

·         certified copies of completed education papers;

·         proof of payment of the administrative fee.


The applicant is required to submit a certified translation of the documents into the Slovak language. TnUAD consider the request within 7 days of receipt of the request. If the application does not have the prescribed formalities, the proceedings shall be interrupted and shall ask the applicant to complete the missing documents or to remedy the deficiencies of the application. TnUAD will issue within 15 days of receipt of the complete application a decision stating with which evidence of education the evidence of education is equivalent.


3. For applicants from another Member State or a third country


Under § 33 par. (1) of the Act on the Recognition of a Certificate of Education issued by a recognized university in another Member State or in a third State for the purpose of continuing the studies shall be decided by the TnUAD, which carries out study programs in the same study or related fields of study as indicated in the education document.


The applicant shall submit a written application for recognition of an education document, which shall include the information referred to in point 2. The attachments are in particular:

·         a copy of the identity document;

·         certified copies of completed education papers;

·         a statement of completed subjects and examinations carried out;

·         a certified copy of an appendix to the higher education diploma, if it is issued by a recognized college;

·         information on previously achieved education before the education, which is a subject of the application (a copy is sufficient);

·         verification of the authenticity of the signatures and the stamp of the school stamp on the evidence of education by the authorities of a Member State or a third State competent for its verification, unless otherwise provided in an international agreement;

·         proof of payment of the administrative fee.


TnUAD, within the meaning of Section 34 of the Act, decides on the recognition of educational documents within two months of receipt of the complete application and decides:


·         on recognition of the education document;

·         rejection of the application for recognition of the education document;

·         assigning the difference test.
